  • In 1999, the FCC, under pressure from the media released the Audits. However, because of political pressure, the Agency did not endorse the Audits.
  • In 1999, the FCC asked for Comments
  • In 2000, the FCC decided to simply drop the rest of the audits and turned them over to the state commissions. No Commission has completed the audits or given refunds
  • In 2002, the FCC closed the Accounting Safeguard Division that conducted the audits.
